BAND DIRECTORS
Sarah Barts, Head DirectorSarah Barts grew up near Chicago, Illinois, and attended college at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. She received her Bachelor of Music in Instrumental and Vocal Music Education in May 2017. Miss Barts is an alumna of two music honor societies- Sigma Alpha Iota and Tau Beta Sigma, and is a member of Texas Music Educators Association. She marched in and was also the Undergraduate Assistant of the Vanderbilt University Spirit of Gold Marching Band. Miss Barts spent the 2017-2021 school years in Austin ISD at Gus Garcia Young Men's Leadership Academy in many roles: teaching Orchestra, Choir, and Guitar, coaching soccer and Hype Squad, Yearbook, and Theatre Club. In the fall of 2021, Miss Barts started at Bedichek! She also speaks Spanish! This is Miss Barts' sixth year teaching, and she is very happy to be spending it at Bedichek Middle School!

Andria Nichols, Associate DirectorAndria Nichols grew up in El Paso, Texas, and attended college at the University of Texas at El Paso and the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas. Ms. Nichols earned her Bachelors of Music Education (Instrumental) in May 2007 and her Masters of Music Education (Instrumental and Vocal) from the University of North Texas in December 2019. She is also an alumna of Alpha Chi Honor Society as well as a member of Texas Music Educators Association. Ms. Nichols began her music career in El Paso, Texas, as Director of Bands at Fabens Middle School in 2008. In 2014 she moved to Austin, Texas, and became the Associate Director of Bands for Pearce Middle School in Austin ISD. Later in 2014, Ms. Nichols was the first music director at Jaime Padron Elementary where her students performed in the Austin ISD Honor Choir, Recorder Festival, and Electronic Music Club. In 2019, Ms. Nichols was then named music director at Nadine Johnson Elementary in Hutto ISD. While in Hutto, Ms. Nichols led her students to top placements in UIL Music Memory, Hutto ISD Honor Choir, NJES Guitar Club, and several public guitar and choral performances in Hutto, TX. This will be Ms. Nichols’ fifteenth year teaching music and her very first year teaching Band at Bedichek Middle School!
